From what I've read, he has at some point both denied and admitted to it.

Notice it says nothing about 9/11 on there.

People confess to things they didn't do all the time anyway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_confession

There is video of Bin Laden boasting about how he pulled off 9-11, so a not-guilty plea wasn't really and option.

don't you see - we all knew that Saddam Hussein was a murderous tyrant

but every human being whether evil or good

cannot be killed on a whim

there has to be some rule of law, some process of ascertaining guilt/innocence whatever

we can't go around killing people because we don't like them and we've all decided that they're not allowed in the playground anymore

justice would become a farce if we just shoot the 'bad people'.....

it seems so obvious to me.......heheheheh

don't be stupid Pinz

there needs to be a system in place (and actually there is one)

we all know (apparently) that Osama bin Dead Recently was guilty of the crimes and murders he was accused of

but you can't just kill people like him as they have done

if you really want to kill him then you should put him before a court

otherwise where does it end.......

we just willy-nilly assassinate people

I am an anarchist at heart (just for the cathartic effect of it)

but really there has to be a rule of law

American people these days seem to think that it's OK to just bomb the hell out of people that they've decided they don't like

(apparently the Israelis do that too - but I'd need to be convinced of that)

what teh fuk is going on with all these extra-judicial assassinations......

That doesn't prove anything, though. In fact, if anything, it's less reliable than an actual confession.

That said, if Osama had wanted a fair trial he wouldn't have had his goons fire upon Navy SEALs. Too bad for him.

only kidding.......

I believe in local produce......I don't care about international travel (such an indulgence)......I reckon we could come up with something better than fairy carts - but if that's all you got - good for you

I believe that most of the buses in Sydney are petrol free

you think you're pretty clever, don't you - but there's one thing you're missing and that's the ability to imagine a world where muck and filth are not the currency of life

good for you

And what about medicine? Clothing? Going to boil some chicken bones and eat leaves to heal yourself and family? Sewing a wardrobe from your own organic sheep's wool? Most climates aren't fit for growing things like coffee, tea and a lot of fruits. Not everyone lives where they can farm. Being completely self-sustaining is a cute idea, but not feasible for most people.

That's nice for Sydney, but do those petrol-free buses make runs to the outback for those that live in the rural areas?

I consider myself clever, yes and I can imagine a world that is all giggles and rainbows, but I'm a realist.

Now onto that vow of silence...when can we expect that to go into effect? sunny

yeah, it's just such a predictable argument for a gal that wants to tap Alaska........hehehhee

I can just imagine you on your deathbed......family gathered around (if any of them bother to show up)

you and your ugly oil mentality are far removed from my pure ideas of the world, it's true

you're obviously a realist.......

how far that will get you I don't know

you're just one shit-ass-kickin' bitch - I'm really scared......

oh, fuk off - if you don't want a world where people live in peace

I guess you're a dime a dozen

great to be a realist - means you have no new ideas

I wasn't talking about everyone being self-sustaining - that's just a dream I have for myself

the rest of you can go fuk up the planet and wreck the world

it's just arranging deckchairs on the Titanic

if I ever find someone that dreams of a future free from human pollution (no offense)

maybe I'd reconsider my vow of celibacy......

I'm probably gonna shut up now - so, yes, I will be silent forever more - like fukking hell

I really don't understand your personal attacks, but they say more about you than they do me. My point in all this was, that until there is a cheaper and more readily available energy source, gasoline is the only option most people have. If you can live without it, that's great and I do mean that, but the majority of us can't. Peace out Bin Laden is dead - Page 4 1295889145

Negative brah...How do you know he was telling the truth? Especially with that quote you quoted...why wouldn't he take credit for something like that to win the confidence of his followers? Maybe you don't do it, but lots of people lie.

However I believe he probably did orchestrate it.

Even if Bin Laden didn't orchestrate the attacks, he'd want us to think he did. His guilt isn't even an issue here. He did it, he's dead. End of.

Because he does. Obama has stopped allowing drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and won't allow us to tap Alaska. Will the oil in those two places last us 1000 years? Probably not, but it would help in the mean time.

You're acting like the actual supply of oil has anything to do with the price and that the oil companies aren't simply charging lots of money because they can and they like money.

This is the best post of the thread !

The ultraliberals really want to believe it was President Obama and the Democrats who sealed binnys fate, when in reality it was work of many, many people for many, many years and it all started with a glass of water. (first the terror suspect is offered a glass of water while being questioned)

I thought everyone knew that !!!

Here's a picture of some people with to much time on thier hands:

I guess it all comes down to what your def of torture is. All the terrorist who were water board did so voluntarialy...since it didn't happen to the ones who spilled the beans !

It seems to me all those ultraliberal protestors were more concern with bashing President Bush and the welfare of terrorist than they were of terrorist victims and potential victims.

Strawberry Jam wrote:Golden humour here. They didn't talk because they wanted to be tortured? That's a great definition of torture - following it, torture doesn't exist at all since anybody can avoid it by saying what they are expected to say.
First off let me say the CIA folks who did the interogated were not rookie cops from some hick town. They were highly trained highly educated personal and they knew what they were doing.

I never said the terrorist who were water boarded did so because they wanted to be tortured...wait a minute I see you have a question mark at the end of your sentence so that changes the context. Anyhow what I did say was those terrorist who freely gave intel were not water boarded. Therefore that leaves me with the conclusion that the terrorist who were water boarded did so out of their own volition !!!(Volition is the cognitive process by which an individual decides on and commits to a particular course of action.)

And again I repeat...it depends on your def of what torture is ! If the President was to feed the terrorist pork sandwiches washed down with beer...some people would concider that torture, while other would concider it having a great time !

In the end what has been acheived ?
Bin Laden is dead . Anything else ?
Has it bought closure to the families of the September 11 victims?
M<aybe all it has done is made Bin Laden a martyr.

Actually torture is clearly defined in the UN Convention Against Torture:

United Nations Convention Against Torture wrote:
Article 1,1. For the purposes of this Convention, the term "torture" means any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him or a third person information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind, when such pain or suffering is inflicted by or at the instigation of or with the consent or acquiescence of a public official or other person acting in an official capacity. It does not include pain or suffering arising only from, inherent in or incidental to lawful sanctions.
Article 2,2. No exceptional circumstances whatsoever, whether a state of war or a threat of war, internal political instability or any other public emergency, may be invoked as a justification of torture.
Your pork sandwiches and beer example would indeed constitute torture if the people forcefeeding the stuff knew that eating and drinking the stuff would inflict severe mental suffering on the prisoner; in fact, this would the whole point of it if the prisoner were a fanatic Muslim...

This guy is right^

It does.

edit: I should clarify- it doesn't really say anything either way. It forbids "cruel and unusual punishment," obviously... but whether or not that refers to torture is debatable and I don't know how the Supreme Court has ruled on it
