It took a while but I can now browse in book shops again
For the first few months after selling my book shop I was unable to go and browse in book shops . I think it was because I had spent over 15 years on a daily basis dealing with every aspect of the retail trade. I did go into my former shop a few times as there were still a few things to sort out but I did not browse. In fact I had no interest at all in going into any book shop.
However in the last few weeks I have resumed buying books and now spend time browsing again.
I suppose it is a form of withdrawlal.
I do remember after I stopped teaching it took a long time before I wanted to go back and visit schools.

I went to Barnes & Noble on Tuesday and it was filled with chicks with tattoos sitting barefoot with laptops drinking coffee. It's a cool place.
