Books most stolen from book shops
It may not be true for every bookshop , however after 15 years and 2 months of being a bookshop owner. I found that true crime books were stolen more often than any other genre. We trried to stop this by placing them nearer the counter however that was only partly successful.

We stocked that book for a while however we did not sell a single copy of it.pinhedz wrote:I always thought the title of Abbie Hoffman's book was particularly reprehensible, because if the book is stolen from the book store, Hoffman still gets paid, but the book store looses. In fact, if the book is stolen from the bookstore, it can no longer be returned as unsold, so Hoffman and the publisher both win, while the bookstore takes the hit.
I believe Hoffman's idea was to rob "the system," steal the profits from "The Man." Turns out "The Man" was just the book store owner, while Hoffman and the publisher were ... who? The common man? The little guy?
I imagine many people did steal it, because customers would feel pretty silly standing at the cash register paying for it:
None were stolen either , we ended up returning it to the publishers where I assume it was pulped.
