Me too. I think she said that she was flying somewhere far away to go the the dentist. But that doesn't take two weeks. I guess she went somewhere for the holidays. I hope she's having a good time!

Yes, she told me she was going to spend the holidays in another city. Not sure when she'll be back

Re: Things you wanted to say......
I just bought gin and beer for tonight.
I'll have dinner with my family and after the twelve chimes of midnight I'll go out with my friends.
Enjoy New Years Eve you all
I hope tomorrow my hangover is not an impediment to wish you a happy new year

Re: Things you wanted to say......
We're invited at a walking dinner by a married gay couple that used to live in the same building as we do - they moved to a newly built apartment some 100 meters down the road!
Knowing them, knowing us & knowing gay people: I think the term walking just might have to be replaced by drinking.
I already bought 2 bottles of Montaudon champagne!
What are your plans?

dinner with the family
and fun with my friends out in a bar/disco
I never heard "walking dinner" before... I guess it doesn't mean you walk while you have dinner...

Re: Things you wanted to say......
Basically that's it yes.
It means you don't sit down at a table to eat the various courses but that various 'courses' - usually snack-sized tapas - are on display so that you can take what you want while interacting with other guests.
It's a quite popular formula for dinners with a relatively large group and in professional settings.

Re: Things you wanted to say......
Are disco's fun where you are on New Year's eve?
Over here going out on New Year's even really isn't very nice.
Places are ridiculously crowdy, too many people are too drunk - often those who rarely drink tend to be the most obnoxious drunks, they really can't manage to control themselves -, the service suffers obviously and places where an entrance fee is due tend to be over-priced.
Going out for a drink tomorrow afternoon, that's real fun!

Re: Things you wanted to say......
It's a bit like that here too. But I usually have fun. Also, I didn't go out in new years eve for the last years so today I am looking forward to doing it
Drinking in the afternoon is different but I like it too

Re: Things you wanted to say......
An almost entirely sober night for me because I'm working the 'dead early' shift tomorrow morning, in the course of which I'm going to have to somehow prevent large numbers of all-night revellers doing themselves serious damage and get them safely home.
Oh, fuck!
Oh, fuck!

That's nice!
Last night was probably one of the best new year's eves I've ever had - which is easily explained if you bare in mind I hate this sort of collective social duty festivisties and was given the opportunity to celebrate with people who didn't really give a damn.
We remember:
- the guy who invited us is a technician with a serious passion for sound technologie. I loved the boxes of his sound system - they turned out to be his own hand made work. I know where my boxes will be coming from in the future;
- international crowds beat local groups: we had 2 dutchmen, an englishman from Oxford and a very sweet and rather attractive South-African guy - man, he was hot!
- celebrating with people you don't actually know is at least as much fun as the umpteenth repetition of the same stage act;
- I spent most of the night talking to a journalist from a regional tv network, interesting stuff!;
- there's nothing quite as much fun as dancing with gay people - especially after 3AM;
- this last lesson was taught professionally by us when we went to a bar around 5AM where the party was almost over till we came in;
We came home around 6:30.

and best wishes to you always.
Re: Things you wanted to say......
On the 3rd I received a text message from one of our hosts saying that 12 people drank 14 bottles of cava, 3 cases of beer (72 bottles) and 2 crates of wine (3l) - and all that before actually going down to the bar.
I seem to remember reading an article posted by Pinhedz in the science-section which concluded that some alcohol was benefitial for your heart and arteries, but a lot of alcohol even better.
You see how my peeps & me make a point of taking care of our health!
Oh well: it really was a very jolly group of people. And I found Jesse, the guy from South-Africa, really sweet and hot ...

my friend has a "gay radar" in his mobile phone. It shows everybody who is gay and has that radar too and the distance. It is fun.

...just want to say i miss you.
been in the bush west of cairns for a few weeks waiting for my dental appointment. it's in a few days.
...no internet (insert ANXIOUS SMILEY BITING FINGERNAILS)
I've also been catching up with real-life friends, which although it's been nice has brought home to me how much closer i actually feel to you lot.
I really appreciate your friendship, atu'ers, and i value it, and i'll be back soon.
(have flicked through the new threads and am keen to add to them)
I didn't want to post anything until i had time to post ssomething longer and more significant, but, as they say, small deeds done are better than great deeds planned.
Take care
