The Zodiac/Bob Dylan
Did anyone ever respond to my Dylan Zodiac thread at the old ATU?

Re: The Zodiac/Bob Dylan
How annoying. Basically it was a bit of trivia concerning a Bob Dylan and the Zodiac Killer connection.
In case people aren't aware, the Zodiac Killer was some serial killer who killed a bunch of people in California in the 60s and 70s. Despite sending numerous letters, the police never worked out his identity.
Anyway, it was thought that the killer called into a tv station once. I wanted to know what the connection is with this video and Bob Dylan. There is actually more than one connection, but I had something specific in mind...

Re: The Zodiac/Bob Dylan
Well it's not hugely interesting, just rather random.
The calls had been placed from a mental institution, and the caller, who had used the names “Sam” and “The Zodiac,” was actually a patient named Eric Weil.
An amateur photographer, Eric Weil lived in the Bay Area during the 1960s. "By all accounts, Eric was just one of those guys who showed up everywhere with a camera," wrote a former acquaintance. "My efforts to track down Eric were unsuccessful. One person I interviewed was pretty sure Eric ended up doing time in prison not long afterwards."

I remember him well. I was sitting right behind him. Doesn't especially sound like him on the phone. Hard to tell, though. For one trembling moment there I thought that this thread was going to reveal that Bob once drove one of these:

I wonder what he is up to these days.
Just to be clear, no-one suspects that Weil was the Zodiac Killer. He was just a bloke that seemed to like motorcycles, prank calls, and celebrity lawyers.

Question is, would that have made a better thread?!
Anyway, what do you mean you sat behind him? At the press conference?

For those of you that haven't seen it, I recommend checking out this movie based on the Zodiac Killings:

Well, Rollin Post, my avatar did. He also asked the question: 'You have no idea why you're famous?' that triggered the response in my signature, and also included the wonderful: 'What do you want me to say? What exactly do you want me to say? Do you want me to jump up, say hallelujah, and crash the cameras or something? If I can't go along with you, I'll find someone that'll go along with you.'
