Re: where's Moony?
Do you know what the Spanish word "garrulo" means?blue moon wrote:...because of me asdf knows a new word...'garrulous'
It means a person that is rustic, coarse, rough, lacking tact...
Edit: but I know that's not the meaning of garrulous. It made me laugh when you said you are a garrulous woman.

...When I referred to myself as a garrulous woman it was to contrast myself with eddie, who can be a man of few words (he can answer a question in a sentence whereas it takes me at least a paragraph)
...because in English garrulous, of course, means:
given to constant and frivolous chatter; talkative
full of trivial conversation
[from Latin garrulus, from garrīre to chatter]

I thought it meant just "talkative"... didn't know about the frivolous and trivial connotations. But yes, it quite defines you

All the best Moony , do not be away too long.
Teaching is a wonderful often undervalued profession.

so what school do you teach at, and what grade?
do you do the distance education?
Qld Ed or private?
i didn't know you were a teacher, i thought trawlers was your trade.

Re: where's Moony?
...I've been teaching students with special needs most of the time since I qualified.
Have a composite 3, 4, 5 class till the end of the year.
Ed. Qld.
It's a good bush school, only 45 students altogether. Great parent support (and scrutiny).
Re teaching on the east coast prior to this, I must say that my years on the back deck of a prawn trawler really stood me in good stead.

composite.
we did mainstream until grade 5, and then a special school, with my son
luckily it was before they changed the structure a couple of years ago, from the IEP to ??? that replaced it.
now i my son wouldn't qualify because his IQ was too high.
>Asperger (high functioning autism)
>ADHD
>oppositional defiant
etc

Re: where's Moony?
...at my last school an added trauma for the kids was that most of them were Indigenous and all of them were in trasition from violent and abusive situations into foster care. It's a great pity that your son doesn't comprehend his blessing in having a devoted and caring mother and a stable home.

I thought your work would keep you away from us... but this is worse, much worse: I suspect you are actually getting involved in the world outside
What is it like? Mangoes and bats and crocodiles, bike ride and a Sun?
Have fun

...also, as you can imagine, mum takes up a fair amount of my time and depleted energy. As well as having deteriorating health, she is blind.
