Yes, the great Walt Whitman, I love his work so much, and I love him, too.
You know, Emerson picked up on his greatness while nobody else did.
Blue Moon, I've read Justin Kaplan's biography of Whitman. It's worth reading, but it's not the important biography Whitman deserves. It's not in the same class as Richard Ellmann's bios of Joyce, Wilde, etc.
I like your Yeats signature!

Help us avoid the temptation, Constance - copy the URL of any pic you like, load it into tinyurl (just google tinyurl to find the program), then post the new tinyurl into ATU's image function. Bingo! No more cheatin', an' no more cheaters. Not that any ATUer would cheat!

He was a guest on an episode of The Food Network's Good Eats.
Honest, he really was.

Certainly no one from the Dakota Territory.
Indeed! Mr Bull was so famous, he even toured the world with Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show - the show even performed before Queen Victoria.
Here's Mr Bull and Mr Cody in a famous publicity photograph:

Re: Who Am I? The ATU History game
Yes, that's Alice Liddell. I just finished a new small book about Alice and Charles Dodgson by Simon Winchester, the author of a number of wonderful books. This book was surprising. Winchester usually exhausts all there is to say about his subject, but here his treatment is topical, even rather slight. He says that the curator of photographs at Princeton, where the photograph is, won't let anyone see it! The photo is locked in a vault forever.
Winchester's best books are The Man Who Loved China, The Professor and the Madman, and The Meaning of Everything. The last two are about the making of the OED.

That's a wonderful story! And told with his characteristic flair. Don't wait too long to read his books on the OED. You'll enjoy them. But also take a look at that other book I mentioned: The Man Who Loved China. It's about a Cambridge scientist who--with his wife's permission--takes a Chinese mistress and becomes anamoured with all things Chinese. He writes a multi-volume tome about Chinese inventions. Joseph Needham. It's my favorite Simon Winchester book.

Young Milne with bear.
The real stuffed toys owned by Christopher Robin Milne and featured in the Winnie-the-Pooh stories. They were on display in the Donnell Library Center in New York City since the 1980s. According to the New York Public Library's web site "They have recently moved from their previous home in the Central Children's Room to grand new quarters in the History and Social Science Library at Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street and will be on display in the Children’s Room beginning in early 2009."
Christopher Robin Milne in later years.
Your turn I think, Pinz.
