...ruby red vodka...never heard of it
I really like this song eddie posted in his birthday thread, 'Ruby's arms'.
Ruby's arms.
Tom Waits
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YofczBHnHrI
i will leave behind all of my clothes, i wore when i was with you, all i
need's my railroad boots, and my leather jacket, as i say goodbye to ruby's
arms, although my heart is breaking, i will steal away out through your
blinds, for soon you will be waking.
the morning light has washed your face, and everything is turning blue now,
hold on to your pillow case there's nothing i can do now, as i say goodbye to
ruby's arms, you'll find another soldier, and i swear to god by christmas,
there'll be someone else to hold you.
the only thing i'm taking is the scarf off of your clothesline, i'll hurry
past your chest of drawers, and your broken window chimes, as i say goodbye
i'll say goodbye, say goodbye to ruby's arms.
i'll feel my way down the darken hall, and out into the morning, the hobos
at the freightyards, have kept their fires burning, so jesus christ this
goddamn rain, will someone put me on a train, i'll never kiss your lips again,
or break your heart, as i say goodbye i'll say goodbye, say goodbye to ruby's
arms.
Have you posted the poem yet?

Re: where's Moony?
No... that was a joke. I was making silly posts and a silly poem would fit my posting mood
I don't know if that's precisely the vodka I tried, all I know is that it was red... and it tastes very good

Re: where's Moony?
...I can't access the internet on my current computer.
I've been posting from the library computer.
Library hours are limited.
I'm starting work part time at the library soon.
To make enough money to buy a new computer I'm working on the wharf refitting boats till the library job starts (plenty of work here paladin).
I'm working from 7am till 5.50.
Library is shut during those hours.
...sob...
I can come in tomorrow for 2 solid hours of posting (from 10am till midday the library is open on sundays).
...see you then. I feel like a limb has been cut off.
The memorial at sea to spread Rob's ashes was eventful and worthy of telling.
Will do so soon.

Moony must mean Southern Hemisphere time.

Re: where's Moony?
Oh for the love of god the library was closed so I' back on the dinosaur achine at the bait shop, under the leering grin of a set of skeletal shark jaws and assaulted by tourist brochures. The range of letters the achine will reliably post has decreased since last I was here. I really really iss reading and posting. I love working on the wharf. It's fabulous tio be away fro the classroo. The wharf is juping with action and alive with colour and oveent and sound. Oh jesus...this coputer is disgustin. there's a huge red ball that serves for a ouse. It's 10 dollars an hour for the displeasure of using it. Yes eddie y hands are speckled with white and grey deck paint and y nails are chipped and torn. I' sure y life is being shortened by the fues fro the 2-pack paint and the rust rinse and other cheicals and no doubt y skin is visibly wrinkling fro labouring under the scorching sun...but I feel tanned and like I' growing stronger and fitter by the inute as I work. The last decade has been the ost sedentary of y life and it's ood to feel y body coe alive again...ostly. Well I' signing off now so I can read as any posts as I can before this boxy thing eats y last week's waes...the pay for refit is quite good. Soon I'll afford a new coputer. I iss you eddie and vera and constance. Take care. I'll be back as soon asd I can.

Re: where's Moony?
...I've been been busy.
The prawn season starts in two weeks so there's a lot to do to get the boats ready.
...Saturday morning. I'm in the library. An online tech support lady with an Indian accent thinks she can get my broadband device to work if I follow a page full of instructions and connect it to the internet...so here I am, full of hope yet prepared for disappointment.
Wish me luck. I'm about to give it a go.

Re: where's Moony?
...i don't think it worked...it's complicated. I need the techie to talk me through the process...which really means I need the internet on at home so I can use the phone...but I can't get the internet at home because the device doesn't work.
Catch 22.
...sob...
there's no going to cairns to get a new computer / help because although the wet season usually ends about now and everyone announced 'we haven't had a wet this year'...well the wet started with a bang 2 days ago and now it's mildly flooding, the tides are extreme, the roads are all closed and there's a cyclone forming 60 km away.

Re: where's Moony?

I give eternal thanks to the lucky stars that got me out of the classroom and back on the wharf.
The picture is of one of the 10 trawlers I've been refitting.
The job finished last Friday and the boats sail tomorrow, because the prawn season starts on the 1st of April.
The skippers and crew turned up a few days ago.
Ten trawlers, 8 crew on each...that means an influx of 80 new people in town...wheeeeeeee.
The Animal Bar is alive again.
So am I.
...so now I'm thinking about going back to sea.

Moony, it's fun to hear about what you're doing and glad you're feeling great.
Do I remember correctly that you wrote that you worked on a ship in China? How intriguing!
