Impressive pix.
Thanks for the enthralling career updates. Always loved the sea, but never sailed anything bigger than an Enterprise dinghy in a flooded gravel pit in Shepperton (SW London) as a schoolboy. That doesn't really count.
Looks idyllic.

..ah...idyll
On day one we were on the deck for 21 hours straight. Day two was a little easier. Day three, we were out there again for 21 hours.

Samuel Beckett's last poem:
Da Tagte Es
redeem the surrogate goodbyes
the sheet astream in your hand
who have no more for the land
and the glass unmisted above your eyes

This is not the kind of sentence one normally encounters on the standard online message board.
I'll try to track down Peter Cook's lonely Norwegian fisherman Sven's musings on fish phone-in radio shows and the inexplicable disappearance of his wife Jutta.

Don't do that, for God's sake. It's perfect as it is.

I thought I saw something here, where these words I'm writing lay now.
But I couldn't decode the meaning

Very odd. I received an e-mail to say she had deleted herself, I didn't even know members could do that?

Really sorry to hear that, Moony. Nothing prepares you for it. Lost both parents myself, so....
Ages ago I started a "Death in the family" thread in Off Topic.
I'll give it a while before returning to it, though.
Love & thoughts, Moony,

Oh Moony, I'm so sorry to hear that. My condolences to you and your family.
I lost my dad about six years ago but my mom is still going strong at 85 years old. Tom's mother is 93.
Both live independently but my mom walks very slowly in baby steps with a walker and cane. I do a lot for her - she and my father moved up here to be closer to me. I also drive my mother-in-law around to MDs and so forth.
I hope your mom lived to a good old age.
Best,
Constance

Re: where's Moony?
For what it's worth: the necessary practicalities tend to get you through the early stages: funeral arrangements, legal matters (registering the death) etc.
It's only afterwards that it really hits you. You never really get over it, of course, but the worst lasts a year or so.
The old custom of wearing black to signify a bereavement had at least this to recommend it: it signified HANDLE WITH CARE. For a time, you become hypersensitive. Everyone's experience is different, but that was mine.
Bereavement counselling is probably a good thing. I wish I'd been aware that such a thing actually existed when I was going through the worst of it.
Good to hear you've been getting a lot of community support.
