Re: Last film I saw
Last Almodóvar movie, La piel que habito (The skin I live in)
I predicted the twist long before it was revealed but I don't even care. Some critics say it's crap, others say it's really good... I'm with the latter.
The worst thing was that my tummy was rumbling non stop.

I plan to see the above film. I haven't actually seen that many Almodóvar films, which is strange considering 'Hable con ella' (Talk to Her) is one of my favourite films. On my to-do list I guess. Last one I saw was 'Bad Education', which was pretty good too.

Oh, and last film I saw was 'Red Sun'. A french produced Western filmed in Spain starring Charles Bronson, Bond actress Ursula Andress, frog Alain Delon, and Japanese legend Toshirō Mifune. T'was better than I expected.

Re: Last film I saw
I resume conventional work tomorrow after a long, hard weekend at the typeface. Since I've been reading Michael Palin's Diaries as an antidote to the hell of writing, I'm going to take this afternoon off and watch Terry Gilliam's Brazil again- in which Palin, unusually, plays a baddie.

A 2005 Brazilian movie: Casa de areia (House of sand)
I had seen it years ago but I hadn't forgotten it.

I said some critics talk good and others bad about the movie "The skin I live in" but I'm realizing crtics unanimously say it's crap. I still recommend it. If you're wondering where my amazing avatar comes from... it comes from this movie.TickleCockBridge wrote:I plan to see the above film. The other day I went to the library and I wanted to see an Almodóvar film after having seen this one, then I remembered that you said Talk to Her is one of your favorite films and I borrowed it (I have never seen it).

It is a good movie, but strange, it's worth watching just for the ending
Sad, though, it's not nice to see people like this, but on the other hand, at least it gave them some work.

I liked it. I like how it deal with loneliness. And friendship. My favorite part is when this man stays at his friend's house in front of the dancing room. (SPOILER) The rape thing shocked me a bit... silly me, coming from an Almodóvar movie it was to expect.
I'm starting to perceive something about Almodóvar movies, I don't know what it is but it makes me see them as something very real, they're not movies that I can ignore.
Here's actress Leonor Watling talking about Bob Dylan (around minute 1:00)
They say Dylan tried to touch Penélope Cruz up or something like that
And then Leonor Watling says "It's ok. He has something between his legs... and I think that's good"
I never seen that documentary but I think I wouldn't like it (not because of that...)

Seen a few flicks recently. Off the top of my head, they were:
'Hidden' (or 'Cache') was fantastic. Brilliant film.
Drive was very good. Although the ignorant cinema audience laughed at how bad it was throughout, which pissed me off a certain amount.
'Warrior' was not in the same league as the other two, but had a good first half. A decent movie which packed an emotional punch more than expected.
Best adaptation I've seen of Jane Eyre. More Gothic than usual.

In this thread ATUers talk about the last film they saw ("last film I saw" they say) but in the other one they talk about the last film I saw...eddie wrote:This is the original "Last film I saw" thread. Accept no substitutes.

Very good, yes. We were five in the cinema so no audience bothered me hehe.Lee Van Queef wrote:

For me it is a "hard" movie to watch (and I'm not referring exclusively to the physical violence) but I liked it a lot.

Re: Last film I saw
It is about a con man (Vittorio de Sica) in Italy during WWII who eventually is arrested by the nazis. Instead of being judged and then shot, he accepts to be in prison pretending he is a general from the resistance.
Diretto da Rossellini
There's this scene, when he first enters his prison cell and he reads what's written on the wall by condemned men
