I wish he had recorded more songs in this style because I like it.

It seems to me that when he sings "I" he means "I".

this was one of the first of his that i heard, i was young and i thought the world was great....Lou Reed had told us so.



and as i sit here now....all of these years later....it still is a reasonalby good day.

I'm not a fan of his 70's albums but I do like Perfect Day very much. It's nice to hear those 1998 versions. Satellite of Love has a more melancholic touch there... thanks for posting it, I liked it a lot.

...I remember it feeling like a giant barn...we were way up the back. I'd never heard of Lou Reed. I was just tagging along with a gaggle of excited friends. Lou was just a tiny figure on the stage in dark glasses. He did Walk on the Wild Side.. I never forgot him after that.

I saw Lou perform twice. I'm not a great fan, though I like a fair bit of his work. First gig was in London (at the Palladium if memory serves me well) in the mid 1980s, at the time of 'New York', which was well represented. The gig was based on a 'return to rock n roll roots' - two guitars, bass and drums - and was one of the loudest shows I'd heard. Painful, but Lou was on form and the show was oddly enjoyable. Next time was early 2000s on London's South Bank (Royal Festival Hall? Queen Elizabeth Hall?) Less memorable, less aurally painful, but I seem to recall enjoying the gig.

I think both, the 80's and the early 70's were a good period in Lou Reed's music. Lucky you both.

From curiousity I consulted the book of changes about him...the keyword was ELEGANCE...one part of the text said "the delay...was not due to an obstacle, but a betrothal"... and another part: "[his]...loitering is not sinister, but honourable".
