Re: guacamayo...
thanks for the clarification......or the correction......all I meant to say was 'welcome'
you wouldn't really say 'slainte' unless you were in Dun Laoghaire or Killiney or Grafton Street or Dundrum
slainte would be very rude if you were from Cork or Kerry or Mayo or Sligo (they're eedjits)
depending on whether you're a cultee or a jackeen 'slainte' is quite subtle - for example cutlees sling the word around but jackeens wouldn't be heard dead saying it.........
the banshees are mostly in Donegal and Kilkenny so 'slainte' would be like a flying curse there
I suppose it's a matter of etiquette
glad we got that sorted out

and I was just trying to teach you a bit of Spanish
I know my English is very far from perfect and if you ever feel like correcting my mistakes I'll be thankful

Re: guacamayo...
I'm always open to people teaching me Spanish
in fact often when I have a spare afternoon
I stand on the side of our main road with a signpost
'willing to pay for Spanish lessons'
so far nobody has stopped to help me out - so I'm very grateful for your help

oh, yes, you have no idea - I would never recommend you say it to someone from Blarney for example........

Re: guacamayo...
well, I suppose it would have a lot to do with body language
people from Blarney are very shy.....so for example they would never look you in the eye or keep up eye contact with you
so if you were a friendly type of person and went up to someone from Blarney, gave them a handshake (they hate people touching them) looked them in the eye and said 'slainte'
it would be as though you had cursed them and spit on their ancestors' graves
there is a highly developed unwritten and unspoken system of etiquette in Ireland - the word slainte is just one example

Re: guacamayo...
we have witches and sages and poets and saints and farmers.......but mostly drunks......
or drunken witches or drunken sages or drunken poets.......sometimes the saints drink the holy communion wine......on the altars.....they're bacchanalian but we forgive them
the farmers are the worst......
but I've heard bad things about 'civil' servants too
word of warning - never say 'slainte' to a bus driver - it's completely forbidden in Ireland........
they all went on strike once because a German tourist saluted a poor bus driver with the insult 'slainte'

Re: guacamayo...
a Polish tourist once said slainte to a bus driver called Micky
he was so shocked he had a heart attack
the passengers had to arrange for someone to drive him and the bus to the nearest hospital
it became known as 'taking Micky to the hospital'
later on it just became 'taking the Micky'
now anyone who is rude enough to say slainte to bus drivers will be accused of taking the Micky

Re: guacamayo...
the Scottish are a hoary bunch
they have barnacles on their hearts - and hardly any of them even have hearts......
Lochinvar was probably my favourite Scot
they don't have blood - you can cut them and test it for yourself......they either have whisky running through their veins or some kind of bourbon or other abominable concoction........
they talk funny - and I don't mean funny haha.....I mean outright gibberish
ach aye ma blak orother
that means 'hello'
they are very weak and a lot of the men wear skirts......dresses.....kilts......what have you
they have sporrans which are like chastity belts.....much like Egypt or such places where the women must prove they are virgins
in Scotland the bigger the sporran the bigger the dick they play the bagpipes mostly out of tune because they are jealous (very jealous) of the French accordions which are really lovely not like the horrible bagpipes.......
they have wife throwing competitions every Wednesday at 4pm which I think is barbaric
come over to Australia - it's a lovely country

By the way, what do you know about the Scottish? I'm thinking of moving to Edinburgh in a not very distant time (don't know if I'll finally do it though)
yes, I am very ashamed.......I have been lying through my back teeth
but everything I said about Scotland is God's truth......heheheheheh
I am Irish - through and through.......I was born in a barn......I was rared on poteen and spuds.......and I curse holy hell
I'm Irish......heheheheheh

Re: guacamayo...
I was just speaking/chatting to Robbie of Aberdeen this afternoon while all the mayhem was happening......
he said there's money to be made in oil......black money - bonuses.......but the UK gov't is taxing him up the wazoo (his words) 60%
he can't afford to buy a house in Scotland - they're going for about 400,000 pounds
I suggest you move to Wales (yes, Wales) where my little bother says everyone is very friendly compared to England......hehehehhehehehehhe
lol
most of his friends are English
but a house in Wales will only set you back 200,000 pounds.....
I have much more valuable advice to give you in these matters but I actually have to finish watching that blues video that calamity jane (SJ) posted in the blues section before I go to bed........
in India they marry goats.......hehehehehehhe

Re: guacamayo...
if I had the the time, patience, commitment, wine......
I could list at least 20 (wild guess) cities better than Edinburgh........I bet there's even more than 20 cities better than Edinburgh.......
oh, make no mistake, it's a lovely little place for ye Scottish bairns....and miscreants....and all you questionable I mean wonderful Scots
but for a lovely, passionate woman like you with real, hot Spanish blood running through your veins.....heheheh
I think you might find Edinburgh on the chilly side......you need samba samba samba
not drudge drudge drudge
go to Argentina......
like in other words don't go to Scotland where you won't understand the brogue......go somewhere exciting like Brazil.......
just my tuppence

Re: guacamayo...
I remember lying in a beautiful park in Madrid with a spring flowing natural water nearby.....reading the economist magazine.....sun shining ..,.perverts hiding.......dreams coming true
dreaming of Canada.......
all I could think about was Canada - it was perfect......swallows.....birds.....humming bees and all I could think about was Canada
so I know exactly what you mean
(apart from the bit about marrying a goat - lol)
