Costume Dressing
Madeleine came home yesterday from an Anime convention with a pair of Ninja socks. They're worn in Japan, of course, with sandles called Geta. Now I want socks and Geta. You can get them online but I'm reluctant to order them without trying them on.
So Julia's wearing theh Ninja socks to school today with her ordinary shoes.
Ever wear something from another culture, or anything costumy?
(Tom wears a navy blue beret in winter.)

Re: Costume Dressing
I used to love scarves.
While I was on Syros years ago I wore a yellow scarf with coins sewn on the fringe.
A German girl showed me a great way to tie it.
I loved that scarf.

I have two blouses I bought in China, very traditional design with frog closures. I wear them all the time; wore one to Chinese school on Saturday.
I also have an authentic Loden coat from Austria. I love it. I bought it in a little store in NYC that didn't last long. The old man who sold me the coat cried when I put it on and buttoned it up. Then he gave me a bar of chocolate. It was great to see all the Loden coats in Vence when I was there years ago. You never see them in the States.

Geta, also called Zori.
Well, I don't know if I'd really want a pair. They don't look comfortable.

Re: Costume Dressing
Yesterday I was pretending I was singing in Arab to annoy my brother and I put a spotted scarf covering my head, only showing my eyes... does that count?
I'd really like to dress sometime like I was from Morocco or so. A friend has to go to a wedding there and was looking for a dress because she wants to dress that way although only for a day...
She lived near Morocco, in a Spanish city there and wanted us to go with her when she went to a trip through the desert... but I didn't have money
