Could I have a new Title, please?
"Head Archaeologist" was a distinction heaped upon me by our late and lamented owner SJ. I never asked for this title and never formally accepted it.
I just went along with the distinction because there was indeed work to be done in salvaging old ATUI threads.
But, apart from tying up few loose ends, that work is now necessarily complete because almost all the ATUI caches have now expired.
So could I have a new Title, please?
I don't much care what it is (within reason).

Huh? What's a Morlock? Something like a warlock? Not sure about that.
Oh, wait a minute. HG Wells' future race of subterranean troglodytes in The Time Machine? Got it. If only I WERE the Morlock-General, my working life might a bit more rational, but as things stand I'm only a common Morlock foot-soldier and my working life is completely chaotic.
Weeellll...clever suggestion, felix...but I dunno...

Eddie, weren't you the Head Librarian at the previous ATU?
that is a good title for you, even if it wasn't you.
Head Librarian
i hope i got that right.

Quite right, Tats- but that was in the dim and distant days when Nash's title proclaimed that she lusted after me.
We've all passed a lot of water since then, as Sam Goldwyn once so sagely remarked.
I'd like to shed this fusty bibliophile image and branch out a bit...if you know what I mean...something more windswept and interesting was what I vaguely had in mind.

Very appropriate on one level, Pinz, but Section 12 of LU's strict Fire Regulations- as set out in the 2005 UK parliamentary Act- would never allow it.

If you really must, but it omits the meteorological factor.
"Pale, windswept and interesting" might possibly be acceptable, in the absence of any better offers.

Pale and Interesting is good.
eddie, from your photo, you looked pale, and you are very interesting.
Re: Could I have a new Title, please?
You know...the row of question marks Nash has substituted for my former Title is starting to grow on me. I think they lend me an enigmatic quality...a certain air of mystery...an indefinable je ne sais quoi...
I'm quite happy to stick with those.

I still think 'The Guardian' is the best one. It sounds like a Superhero

It's a goodie Twoodsy. But if Eddie likes the enigma thingy, how's about 'Man of Mystery'? We've even got a well cool theme signature toon for him:

Re: Could I have a new Title, please?
^^ 'Man of Mystery' was written by Michael Carr as the theme tune for the early 60s TV series Edgar Wallace's Mystery Theatre. Carr's other main claim to fame is that he composed (with Jimmy Kennedy) 'South of the Border (Down Mexico Way)'. Here's Gene Autry's 1939 hit record:
Now that IS some claim to fame...

Re: Could I have a new Title, please?
As Man of Mystery was my nickname, back in the day, might I suggest the culinarily swashbuckling and exotic Mackerel Escabeche?
"The name's Escabeche. Mackerel Escabeche."
"The name's Escabeche. Mackerel Escabeche."

Re: Could I have a new Title, please?
well if everyone else is going to say their preference, then so will i.
i think eddie should be known as 'Head Librarian' but i don't think he liked that so i don't mind if he doesn't use it.
Head Librarian
but other than that.......Mackerel Escabeche is the best so far
(even though i cannot pronounce the second name)
