Covelli Loyce "Coco" Crisp (born November 1, 1979 in Los Angeles, California) was a Major League Baseball center fielder for the Boston Red Sox. Crisp is noted as much for his humorous and unique name as for his baseball skills. The Boston Globe reported that Crisp's grandmother called him "Co" when he was a child, and his two siblings nicknamed him "Coco" after the breakfast cereal, Cocoa Krispies.

Covelli Loyce "Coco" Crisp was originally drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1999. On August 7, 2002, while playing at AA-level New Haven, Crisp was traded to Cleveland to complete an earlier trade for pitcher Chuck Finley. Crisp became the starting center fielder with the Indians in mid-2002, replacing Milton Bradley. For the next few seasons, Crisp established a reputation as an excellent fielder and speedy baserunner. Despite his success, Crisp had to fight for his roster spot each spring. In 2005, Crisp moved to left field following the emergence of another young outfielder, Grady Sizemore. In his final two seasons with the Indians, Crisp showcased his offensive talent by batting .297 and .300 with 31 total home runs and 35 steals.

Crisp, already a fan favorite in Cleveland, saw his national fame jump dramatically upon entering big-market Boston before playing a single game in a Red Sox uniform. After promising start to his Red Sox career, which included signing a 3-year contract extension worth $15.5 million, Crisp broke his left index finger attempting to steal third base and spent many weeks on the disabled list.

During his first season with the Kansass City Royals, Crisp's batting average was at a career low .228. On June 23, 2009, Royals manager Trey Hillman announced that Crisp would receive season ending surgery to repair a labrum tear in his shoulder.

On December 20, 2009, Crisp reached an agreement with the Oakland Athletics on a 1 year deal worth $5 million a year with a club option for 2011.

On December 23, 2009, Crisp officially signed his 1 year contract with the Oakland Athletics.

Crisp began the 2010 season on the 15 day-DL with a fractured left pinkie finger.

Coco is of Afro-Puertorican descent. His mother is of Puerto Rican and Italian descent and his father is African American. He is married and has two children, a son (Caden) and a daughter (Amalie). Crisp practices boxing and is a boxing fan.

Primarily. I mean, I won't be forgetting the lessons learned from the tax evasion/public indecency charges against Candy "The Bat-Man" Maldonado. But I also support The Aths, partly because Cousin Sal works for them, and also because only 5,700 peeple show up for their games, so one feels sorey for them. But dont fret, the Aths will move to the hart of Siliconn Valey, and will be showered with funds from residents having excessive union credit notes, also complex will gett cybernetic skyboxes made from hempiron, and the Johannes Mehserle Oxygen Pavilion.
