Re: welcome otronombre
I wish I had access to those movies, though...any movies. Next time I'm in civilisation I'll try and buy some (my tax cheque arrived...then we can discuss themotro nombre wrote:I didn't see Vanilla Sky because everybody said it was crap
people were making fun of Pe's adventures abroad
That's when Amenábar was fun. Before The Others and The Sea Inside. I liked Tesis a lot also.

Here's the trailer for Tesis
the girl is the little girl from the movie The Spirit of the Beehive https://acrosstheuniverse.forummotion.com/t437-best-10-films
and I walked the corridor at 1:17 (uni) until someone appeared and had to pretend I was not there because of the movie
The Others is the horror film about a mother (Nicole Kidman - isn't she australian?) with two kids who can't receive Sun. I didn't like it much
And The Sea Inside is the one with Javier Bardem who can't move from bed and wants to end his life (real life story). I didn't like it.

I saw The Sea Inside last year on television (it stopped working not long after). Unfortunately I missed the brginning.
I really enjoyed it. Another example of our different tastes

Re: welcome otronombre
I saw it in the cinema when it was released so I don't remember it very well. But I remember it as too easy sentimental taking advantage of a hard story.
Like with the priest, I remember. The priest of course is a twisted blind stubborn fool who in despite of being in the same condition as Bardem, he hasn't managed to grasp true life and even he dares to try to teach Bardem.
The feeling I get is it's not a sincere movie and I think the story required it

Re: welcome otronombre
That's a good explanation otro.
I understand your viewpoint. I'd like to watch the movie from the beginning.
Maybe one day we could synchronise viewing a movie and then discuss it, while it's still fresh in our minds.
This is an arts forum, after all.
Got any suggestions for a movie?
I'm going shopping in about 3 weeks.

Re: welcome otronombre
yes, all of Almodóvar's movies
a friend and I ended the day listening to this cd at my sister's:
... and started talking about his films. We decided we have to see them all, we haven't... and many of them saw them too long time ago to remember them properly.
Twood said he loves "Talk to her". I've been thinking about that movie and it has grown on me.

It's 3am. I can't sleep.
I'll get my daughter to download. It's beyond my capability.
'Swap notes' means 'exchange posts'
...really cold. about 10 degrees
