Oh, Moonie!
I have bad boy and smoking memories, but they go back a long way.
But whatever keeps you motivated to stay away from the cigarettes, it's good.
...thanks ladies...so far so good.
He's actually not coming to town till early november. I can be serene by then.
Tatiana, I am very jittery when I smoke, and very calm about a month after I stop. I need to be calm so I have to struggle through the nicotine fits. My self-esteem is better when I'm not smoking and I'm going to need that...everyone fawns over a musician, and he'll be onstage. Last thing I need is to feel like a dishrag....first thing I'll need when he's gone is a big, fat, fag (sorry...couldn't resist the rhyme).

Re: Quitting smoking
moony, i actually did not read the bit you wrote earlier about the ex coming to town....
do whatever you have to do to make sure you kick his ass,
and then do whatever you have to do to support yours after he has gone....

My dear friend tigerlily
strength is one thing....having a friend who you can discuss all of the stuff we chat about....is completely different.
and better.
Re: Quitting smoking
...^...that was very interesting, user.
...it's been ELEVEN AND A HALF DAYS...I'm okay. My fingernails have gone. My clothes have shrunk. I've passed through the "just want to stay in bed" phase and am now jumping out of my skin.
How did the long weekend go, tigerlily?

Re: Quitting smoking
Mooney....11 1/2 days is great, good for you!!!!
I did not even attempt it this weekend It would have ruined the entire 3 day weekend for both me and my sweetie, and I just wasn't willing to play that scene.

Re: Quitting smoking
...thank you tatiana, tigerlily and constance. I've surprised myself!
I've given up twice before, for two years each time. I have no idea why I start smoking again...all I know is that it just takes one puff.

Re: Quitting smoking
Someone tried to scare me saying I might be developing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. I've just looked up what's that and I don't like the coincidences. I have a permanent pleghm in my throat that makes me cough. Also I wake up at night sometimes because I feel I can't breath. And the other day I ran for only 10 fucking minutes and my lungs, nose and mouth ached.

Re: Quitting smoking
hehehe you're a real sportwoman!
A year ago or so I was able to run for thirty minutes. It's not much either but it's better than ten minutes. My goal is to run thirty minutes again... but I didn't know my respiratory system would ache.

Um...just remind me, ladies:
Is this a "Quitting men" or a "Quitting cigarettes" thread?
I like to stay in touch with current trends, when I can.

oh eddie dear, just to keep you up to date....they are giving up cigarettes.
Moony, how did you end up going...still stopped or started back up again?
no matter, we KNOW how hard it is to stop, so we still support you anyway.

Re: Quitting smoking
It is supposed I have just smoked my last cigarette. I'm writing it so there's something that says so...

Re: Quitting smoking
...me too...eventually. But I'm going pretty good this time. Three weeks and three days so far.
I've got a high-pressure job coming up and an ex coming to town in November. I need to be in good shape for both...strangely enough these have proved to be more powerful incentives than having had lung surgery in the past!
