blue moon and pinhedz thank you for your kind words and interest in Codename: Mackadamia.

tatiana, a extra special thank you for your extra special kind words about Lab Rat (my squeez)...the human form of a Bobby Dylan love song.

Today it was't as hot as its been and I said to Labbie...'before you know it the cold weather will be here.' (which I look forward to)

BTW: blue moon I layed your saying going troppo on a couple of my friends and they got a chuckle out of it.

blue moon the only thing you need to know about politicians is their all full of bullshit and in it for themselves !

Statement from President Obama: "Tripoli is slipping from the grasp of a tyrant, the regime is showing signs of collapsing. The people of Libya are showing that the universal pursuit of dignity and freedom is far stronger than the iron fist of a dictator."

“He is someone I consider a friend. He knows he is a son of Africa. Regardless of his African belonging, he is of Arab Sudanese descent, or of Muslim descent. He is a man whose policy should be supported, and he should be assisted in implementing it in any way possible, since he is now leaning towards peace. I urge all peoples to give him this chance and to support this policy, because America is a country that, when its policy is bad harms the world, and when it is good it helps the world.” Muammar Gaddafi

Tombstone Bluess plays in the background !

'The geometry of innocence flesh on the bone causes Galileo’s math book to get thrown.
At Delilah who sits worthlessly alone but the tears on her cheeks are from laughter !'

In a unrelated matter: Whoa. The two have feuded for years, Latina reports, with George Lopez often taking shots at Erik Estrada's career in his stand-up act and Estrada saying he once confronted Lopez at a church carnival. The former "CHiPs" star said Lopez was afraid to fight him.

I'm on Erik Estrada side in the feud but a grown man starting a fight at church carnival is bit juve.

Too Funny: Obama Needs Two Teleprompters For Three-Minute Speech…

And the left wants us to believe he’s the smartest man who has ever lived.

(Washington Examiner) — President Obama required two heavy-duty teleprompters on Monday during a three-minute speech in which he nominated Alan Krueger to serve as chairman of his Council of Economic Advisers.

“I am very pleased to appoint Alan and I look forward to working with him,” Obama said, staring at the large, flat-screen monitor to his right, then shifting his eyes to the teleprompter on his left. “I have nothing but confidence in Alan as he takes on this important role as one of the leaders of my economic team.”

Man Arrested for Having Sex With Inflatable Raft

An Ohio man was arrested on public indecency charges after cops caught him having sex with an inflatable raft, police said. Name edited out 32, was arrested at his home in Hamilton, near Cincinnati, early Sunday after he was spotted in the bizarre act in a nearby alley, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported. The owner of the raft told Hamilton Police Officer William Thacker he shouted at the suspect to stop.

"The witness stated the defendant appeared to be having sex with the raft due to the fact that his pants were down around his ankles," police wrote in the report. Name edited out pulled up his pants and fled with the raft, the report states. Police said he confessed. "Defendant advised officers that he was doing it but only because he has a problem and that he needs help and please don't send him to prison but send him somewhere to get help," the police report stated.

Name edited out had been arrested at least five times for similar offenses, most recently in 2008, the newspaper said.

Hope and change sure is a strage thing !

Moments after Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa Jr. declared the labor movement the “army” in a war against the tea party and rallying a Labor Day crowd to “take these sons of bitches out”, President Obama thanked Hoffa and declared how proud he was of him.

“For the truth is that none of us can know exactly what triggered this vicious attack. None of us can know with any certainty what might have stopped those shots from being fired, or what thoughts lurked in the inner recesses of a violent man’s mind.” President Obama Jan 12, 2011

"I do think that everybody has a responsibility, Democrats or Republicans, to tone down some of this rhetoric." President Obama

The old well President Bush did the same thing defence...ultraliberals have become so fond of comes to light again.

Hoffa on Tuesday defended his comments in an interview with Talking Points Memo, saying he has no regrets about his choice of words. "How is that different than Mitch McConnell saying he wants to take out Barack Obama?" Hoffa asked.

So far no comment from the Whitehouse !

Kenneth M. Phillips is the only attorney in the USA who does nothing other than represent people who have been seriously injured by dogs. Widely recognized as the nation's leading authority on dog bite law, he has earned tens of millions of dollars for dog bite victims all over the USA. He has been a frequent guest on CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, MS-NBC, and Fox News, and has been called "the dog bite king", "a leading expert in dog bite law", and "the nation's best known practitioner of terrier torts." Additionally, he assists legislators in drafting dog bite laws, appears in the news, teaches seminars, and writes books and articles about dog bite law. He personally answers all e-mail sent to him.

I know most of you folks could care less about American politics or even what Old Mack has to say come to think of it...just the same I'm going to post this anyhow !

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee just released their new attack ad against Bob Turner, the Republican candidate for the NY-9 seat vacated by Anthony Weiner. There’s something slightly…off…about the timing of the ad. Just three days before tenth Anniversary of September 11th seems an inopportune time to use an image of a private jet buzzing right by the Manhattan skyline to illustrate Bob Turner’s lax stance on corporate tax reform. Right?

Any other week, it’d be a huge stretch. Yet there’s something about seeing replays of the attacks ad nauseum on broadcast news, and commemorative/memorial ceremonies taking place city-wide that makes it much, much worse. It’s not a rhetorical question: Is there truly no better way to illustrate Turner’s commitment to corporate interests twelve seconds into an attack ad?

hey Mack
i don't know who the people are that you are talking about, not being into politics that much (as i am not) but just remember this....some people will do almost anything to promote themselves.
even using an event such as 9/11 because even though people will disapprove of such a campaign...it will still cause everyone to talk and to recognise them anyway.

you know....dodgy publicity is better than no publicity.

so here is a bobby for you, just to help with the afternoon (or whatever time it is where you are)
cheers

Mack, you know that you are pretty much my hero, so this isn't a diss on you.

But I must ask, why on earth do (some?) American's say "I could care less" when I presume they mean "I couldn't care less"?

"I couldn't care less" is a phrase in England and it makes sense. It means it is impossible to care less, ie. You don't give a shit. But for some reason, people in America often say "I could care less", which means they must actually care a certain amount, which as far as I know is the complete opposite of what they mean. It's something I noticed on ER quite a few times but never mentioned it. It's very odd. Do people just mishear what the phrase is and then say the opposite of what they actually mean, or am I missing something here?

The phrase currently in use has what linguists call a "deep structure" that makes perfect sense, although most of the people using the phrase are probably unaware of it.

I can remember when Americans used to say "I couldn't care less," but I think they began to feel that phrase did not adequately convey how little they cared. There was a transitional period when there were many variations, which I greatly enjoyed:

-- Try to imagine how little I care.

-- Here's a quarter, call someone who cares.

-- You say that like I should care.

-- Yeah--I mean, like I should care?

-- Do you really believe I could care any less?

-- You say that as if I could care less.

But, eventually laziness set in again, and the rich repertoire of variations fell into disuse, and the phrase heard most often was reduced to "Yeah, like I could care less."

The abbreviated form became "... I could care less," but the deep structure is "Like (or as if) I could care less."

I've got to say, I'm not convinced. When spoken, they sound almost identical. Surely most users of the phrase have simply misheard the phrase and just never thought about what they are actually saying? But yeah, I guess some could be saying it almost sarcastically, but I can't really see how that would work very well. I smell a national cover-up. What do I know, I'm not American. Smile

It should be said sarcastically, but I think younger people have no idea where it came from, and are just saying what they heard growing up. To them, "could" just means "couldn't."

If you aren't convinced, that's because you didn't watch it happening.
