Kin-Dza-Dza (USSR 1986, Georgi Daneliya)
Stumbled across this gem a few days ago.
"Kin-Dza-Dza" is a Soviet science-fiction comedy flick about two comrades who get warped into another dimension
by accident. The ensuing conflicts with the population of that other planet first convince them that they have landed
on capitalist territory but after a while it becomes clear that they are much further away from home than they could
have imagined. Many nice ideas, raunchy low-budget costumes and an affinity to long shots that would've made Eisenstein
cringe - I found the film to be highly enjoyable.
Anybody seen this?
Trailer (6 minutes long)
