it seems that the planet will become too small for the projected number of humans........(help - develop alternative planet to colonise????)

as we all know this attitude (Malthusian) fostered many murdering eugenicists.....

the question is.......can the planet handle the amount of people that we are gonna get if we're not careful

how comfortable are you with abortion?

how comfortable are you with summary sterilisation - with the involuntary sterilisation of (women mostly) in third world countries - like what Planned Parenthood does (and I know, cos I worked for them once upon a time)

The Anthropocene stratum consists of disposable plastic (water bottles, for the most part?) and nuclear radiation.

Malthus was a compassionate person; he had seen misery and starvation caused by population outrunning food production.

He feared that the day would come when there would be so many people in the lifeboat that it would sink and take everyone down with it.

He argued that population grows exponentially, while food production grows only linearly. I don't see why that should be true.

But, if you believe David Ricardo, there will one day be a tipping point when food production can no longer increase any further.

The American settlers that settled beyond the 100th parallel got a taste of what Ricardo was talking about.

You might think of Malthus as a man who wanted to prevent the tragedy of Hollis Brown.
