I have no idea how to react to this thread - I really don't like to be the centre of anyone's attetion and as a consequence never figured out how to deal with such circumstances.
I'm glad it derailed and do hope I don't put it back on the tracks for too long.
I'm sincerely sorry if my actions made anyone feel bad - or whatever exactly it is people feel in such situations.
It was never my intention to cause such a reaction.

...hello Andy. I miss you because your posts were always interesting and your innate good manners shone through them.

...hello sj. I miss you because your wit made me laugh or it made me think. I've finished 'Their Eyes were watching God'.

...I like the line where they're sitting inside the tin shed and the hurricane's screaming around them...it goes something like "they were staring at the door but their eyes were watching God".

I'm knackered. I'd quite forgotten how hard writing is. It's going to be a comparatively restful experience resuming work tomorrow.

Actually...no, it isn't.

Some writers seem to find it easy: a natural flow. I don't. Too obsessed with detail, that's my problem. I agonise about commas.

It's a full-time occupation, in my opinion. If you're not actually at the keyboard, you're thinking about it, scribbling notes etc. Been trying to hold down TWO full-time jobs recently, and it's been no fun at all.

Had a nibble from a potential publisher, though. No idea whether anything will ever come of it, but bought some envelopes this morning to despatch what I've written so far. You get a complimentary copy, of course, if things work out.

I seem to be firmly in the snail-mail generation.

Pleased with the way it's shaping up, though: 71 typed pages, and a little over half-way through, I think.

...I share your obsession with detail and the agonising over commas etc...and a love of words.

...The forum has helped me to realise how pompous and verbose my natural writing style is (isn was on to it instantly hee hee).

...In the early days of Australia every small town had its several newspapers, and each newspaper ran serialised stories. Many of Australia's classics were written this way, under the pressure of weekly deadlines. I'd like to write like that...I lack self-discipline. The weekly income would be a bonus as well.

...Congratulations on being half-way through...that's impressive. You're sorely missed here. It's good that you still visit.

...I'm not really ready to launch back into the workforce. sigh

Does that mean that you're gonna leave me here as the only full-time poster? Sad

Edit: I think I'm gonna write "Full-time poster on ATU II" in my cv... that will give me prestige

It'll be an honor to be the most obsessive one

Now that you say "I might sound" you'd have to hear the voice with which I read your posts, it's very funny (and not it a negative way). Felix's voice in my mind is very funny too.

Hope you can handle well your time working.
