Andy and SJ weren't American. That's a major problem, I'm afraid. You have to be American- especially if you're an American. Thankfully, little Captain Big Top is American. By the way, an American in Paris once asked me: 'Are there any mountains in France?' (as he stole an apple from a street stall. I was so impressed. Thankfully, I never saw him again. He's probably the CEO of Neanderfuck Donuts, now). You couldn't make it up.

I'm an American these days, but at least some of my ancestors were Puritans. Some of the others were Welsh, and I've heard that Wales is a part of England (although you have to be careful about who you say that to), and one was even Irish. Come to think of it, all of my ancestors were Yoo-ropians of one kind or another.

I am a direct descendant of Charlemagne, but so are the rest of you (it can be proven statistically that none of you can avoid being a direct descendant of Charlie magne).

I even climbed one--called the Saleve--and in the process I crossed the boundary from Switzerland into France without going through customs.

Much as I like both SJ and Andy, it was a bad move to delete posts unconnected with the recent ructions before jumping ship. Such posts had an educational value and it was ungracious to delete them. A hissy fit, no more.

It's made the task of reconstructing the board that much more problematic, but I suppose that was the intention.

I can only assume both were under a lot of pressure at the time.

I still love you guys, but on this occasion you were wrong to do what you did.

The Poetry thread hasn't been the only casualty.

I've repaired quite a lot of damage but it's used up time I could usefully have spent doing other things.

In fairness, most of the damage was obviously done during the April shipwreck, but the actions of SJ and Andy certainly haven't helped matters.

Putting out a fire with gasoline never does.
