The Queen never did anything to you, don't be so ridiculous. You know nothing of what she does and the huge amount of pride and affection people have for her. Look down upon them if you want, but it's the truth and there's nothing wrong with people feeling that way.

Yes, I should never speak out against anyone who hasn't personally and directly wronged me. Hitler never did anything to me either, I guess I should stop thinking so low of him...after all, he made lots of people happy! I'm sure he had great dresses as well.

The Marxist description of how socialism would work notes that under capitalism, people are greedy and unscrupulous. Then they describe the workings of a socialist system, all the time under the assumption that people are selfless and altruistic.

The Marxist description of a state starts with nothing that all states - not just capitalist states - that have ever existed are being determined by the Master/Slave dialectic (which was first described by Hegel). How people conceive of the world they are living in is predetermined by their position within this dialectic. It is this dialectic which, according to Marx and Engels, inevitably always leads to the struggle of classes.
The communist state they thought would come to overthrow this age-old opposition, would simply eliminate the conditions for the struggle itself thus freeing people from a class-bound relation to society.

Marx really doesn't talk about people psychological constitution but how the social structure pre-determines their understanding of reality.

I don't think that's an irrational thought.
"... social structure predetermines that reality ..." that is the irrational thought--right there. tongue

There's a top dog in every wolf pack. The structure didn't make the wolves what they are, it was the wolves--being what they were--that created the structure. You cannot "remove" what makes a wolf a wolf, because it's inside of them.

Hitler was the reason for the murder of over 11 million people and something like 50 million (?) died in WWII. The comparision is somewhat lame. Especially considering my rather cheeky example earlier on about how a Monarch could possibly have reigned in Hitler's powers.

edit: no, no, you must just be mad that Oprah earned her wealth and fame by becoming the best in her field (unlike the Queen) and is very generous with her money

Celine Dion and Oprah have given more to the world than any living member of the british royal family.

And are they really young? They both look like they're in their 40's even though they're decades younger than that.

And surely you see a difference in someone crying tears of joy because someone they don't know shared something with them, and someone crying tears of joy because someone they don't know used their money to throw an extravagant party that they weren't invited to.

Is that right? I can see that it overlaps, but never noticed it takes over any of the text. If that is the case, I shall I have to change it. Thing is, I really have no energy to shrink it unless the forum does it automatically, so I might have to go without!

I've been kind of following things and I was eager to see Kate's dress and other things (wasn't disappointed)

I didn't watch the ceremony because I've been having a few problems and needed my sleep

I was a huge fan of Princess Diana and was devastated when she died so young leaving her gorgeous boys without a mother

I cycled to a huge flower market the morning of her funeral (dressed in black) and bought a beautiful bouquet of birds of paradise flowers and cycled to Kensington Palace to lay them down.....

I hope William and Catherine have a lovely life ahead of them - they seem to be really nice

and I hope the memory of Diana endures

(I haven't read all six pages of this so I don't know what's going on)

I'm not following you Pinz.
What's irrational in saying that a wealthy man will have a very different understanding of how society works - and, more importantly, ought to work - than someone who was born in poverty?
People are born just as rich, and just as poor, under socialism as they are under capitalism, so blaming it on capitalism is irrational.

So it's inside a poor man to be a poor man?
That's a red herring.

There where rich men and poor men and masters and slaves under the tsar. After the revolution, there where rich men and poor men and masters and slaves.

Sometimes the man who was a slave under the tsar became a master after the revolution. But there were still masters and slaves, so you can't blame that on the old social structure.

It's human nature to want to be top dog. It's not just the rich man that wants to be rich--the poor man has the same rich man inside of him that the poor man has.

no i cannot name them, but that is okay because i cannot name all of the british royals either..

the wedding of William and Kate was a nice wedding and everyone is cheerful to see it.
as they are when anyone in public eye gets married or whatever.

you shouldn't take all of this so seriously.
it is a wedding, and we are all happy to witness it.....that is all

and no matter who likes or dislikes these things, there will always be people who will talk about the gowns and other things, so really if you are so against it.....
why are you still reading this thread, it is on page 7.....shouldn't you just stay out of the conversation if you don't approve.

Pippa Middleton's bum gets its own Facebook fan site

By Ceri Roberts, Apr 30, 2011

Getty Images/WireImage

Everyone agreed that Catherine Middleton looked radiant as she made her way up the aisle at Westminster Abbey yesterday.

But her younger sister and maid-of-honour, Pippa Middleton, has been getting plenty of attention too – most of it focused on her pert bottom.

While some have complained that Pippa's slinky dress, also created by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, was rather too low cut for a Royal Wedding, many more thought she looked amazing.

Within minutes of her arrival at Westminster Abbey, Twitter almost crashed as thousands of wedding watchers commented on her look.

And as she straightened her sister's train in preparation for her long walk up the aisle, it seems that the world's eyes were firmly fixed on her rear.

Less than 24 hours after the wedding there were already three Facebook pages praising Pippa's derriere, and one – The Pippa Middleton Ass Appreciation Society – already has nearly 9,000 fans. The Pippa Middleton fan page also has nearly 5,000 followers.

And it's not just men who are obsessed with her slender figure.

US style blog Fashionista.com published an article entitled In Praise of Pippa (Especially Her Bum), while fashion blogger Susie Bubble tweeted: "It has to be said... I'm a tad jealous over the pertness of Pip Middleton's arse."

In another tweet, @Cosmetic_candy said: "Pippa's bum. Pippa's bum. This wedding is about Pippa's bum."

There were also rumours that Pippa, who has been dating Alex Loudon for a year, had caught the eye of Prince Harry, who looked very pleased as he walked back down the aisle at her side.

And given that she was behind plans to decorate the palace with glitter balls for the evening wedding reception, it's clear that she shares Harry's sense of fun.

So could there be another royal romance on the cards? Watch this space...

Ricky Gervais slams royal wedding well-wishers

by Candy Bellinger, Apr 30th 2011

There's nothing Ricky Gervais likes more than causing a little controversy.

But he may have picked the wrong target this time because yesterday he launched into a sweary tirade against the throngs of royal wedding fans who had camped out in London for a glimpse of the action.

According to The Sun, the comedian wished the royal newlyweds "all the best", before adding: "But... really. Enough already.

"Who are these f***ing m***s from all over the world camping out for f***ing days to get a 30 second glimpse of two people from 30 yards away? Christ."

Calm down Ricky... each to his own and all that.

Gervais also joked about best man Prince Harry.

"I sent Prince Harry a text today offering to gag up his best man speech. (True). He said he was fine," he revealed.

"Hmmm? If I hear he's done any holocaust or famine s*** I will sue obviously. I also reminded him it wasn't fancy dress."
