But possibly not as good as this. flower

This has first rate sound--that's extremely to find with these live clips.

This must have been recorded by a professional sound engineer:

Psychodelic striped-bellbottom Dave is now on Utoob.

1) "Treehouse"
2) "Blak Bari Chari Blooz"
3) "The Odyssey of Thaddeus Baxter"

... and there's more--much more.

They probably just made this up in the studio:

Those Dave Ray oldies keep getting deleted, but here's a new one:

And here's a real rarity (this probably won't get deleted, because the record company is defunct):

In "Chronicles" Bob Dylan explains how he learned about folk music in Minnesota around 1959-1961 from musicians and record collectors near the University of Minnesota. He said he played with John Koerner (Bob remembers this better than Koerner does) and that Dave Ray had the only 12-string guitar in Minnesota. Bob got a guitar lesson from Koerner (maybe Bob's only lesson) and he hid in Ray's basement when he was being chased by some fraternity boys after he stole their food.

Koerner and Ray played with blues harp player Tony Glover, and they made this record together (David Bowie said in Fortune Magazine that it's one of his favorites):

In this picture, they are down by the Mississippi River flats, watching a police car drive up. The policeman wants to know why they are fooling around amongst some old abandoned warehouses. They said they were having their picture taken.

There is so much to tell, I won't be able to tell it all at once. But Koerner and Glover are still alive--here they are:

Thanks for all the links and info on this thread Pinhedz.
Did not know much about these guys before. They sound great.

Dave Ray improved with age--his peak years were probably the 1990s (all indie recordings, of course).

Spider John has been at it for over 50 years. The problem these days is that he mostly redoes what he already did:

Spider John said the last song he made up is on his 1996 record. Neutral

Spider John just turned 75--a remarkable achievement considering his heart condition. Smile

So, this was that time in 1968 when Tony Glover played with Jim Morrison:

Most of Dave Ray's record companies are defunct--some were never even funct. Shocked

This one was never pressed--they just burned enough of them for the audience members interested in it (the name of the band "6L6" refers to a type of vacuum tube):

The litmus test for artistic significance is making it onto Jeopadry! as a question ( or answer ).  Sorry, Korner Spider & Snakey - no dice.

If you don't have your copy yet, give a listen to what Tony Glover and Willie Murphy have to say (Bob was forced to be Bob because he wasn't good enough to be Dave):
