There will be tears of joy all across the land this Christmas, as every good boy gets his Subo CD. Very Happy

In the run-up to her sold-out west-coast tour, Dot has been the subject of countless interviews, from which we have been treated to many new revelelations--such as Dot's biggest influences:

"… my favorite was and still is Herman's Hermits. We listened to whatever was on the radio at that time in the '60s which was the British Invasion, The Monkees, The Beatles, Dave Clark 5; that whole era. My sister Betty also liked country. I'm not a big fan of country but do like Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, and a few others. I don't have a steady diet of country. My sister Betty listens to country all the time and back then her favorite was Andy Williams and Helen liked Rick Nelson. And I don't really think we were trying to make any certain music. Just whatever came out of our heads basically. I did all the writing except for one song so I guess whatever came out of my head."

In response to the haters, Dot just says: "...what I always say is everyone is entitled to their own opinion … And even bad publicity is still publicity." Razz

Dot is no dummy. Cool

Dot Wiggin's bandmates tried to write a Herman's Hermits song in her honor:

For those who are trying to friend Dot Wiggin on facebook--you have to look for Dot Semprini, because she was married (lucky guy I love you ).

Kurt appears to have Dot in 5th place, but more likely that's one of those "no particular order lists."

I know you all are waiting for Dot's new single to arrive in the mail, so I thought I should pass on this message from Belinda (you know this can happen with indie records; it fact it happens with big label records, too bounce ).

So close...so frustrating!

Posted by Belinda Rawlins

Everyone at Bubbles in the Think Tank Records is going nuts right now.  The records are sitting 5 miles away from HQ and we can't get them until Monday!  ARGH!

Due to a shipping error on the part of the manufacturer, our records are arriving a business day late, which means Monday instead of Friday (yesterday) which in turn means that our shipping party for the weekend had to be cancelled.

Now, FedEx and I are on a first name basis at this point following all of my can-I-drive-to-Connecticut-and-get-them calls, but they're not budging.  So that means some plans have changed.

We'll be overnighting to record stores to make sure they get what they need in time for Record Store Day.  If you need yours without a doubt by RSD, please let us know by the end of Monday!

The rest will be mailed first class as quickly as possible.  That shipping party I mentioned before is usually four people working 8 hours to get all the packages out.  Without that party, it's just gonna be Belinda shipping as she can everyday after getting home from a day job.  So not only will it not be as much fun, it's gonna take a whole lot longer!

I hope you'll all be ok with the change in plans...you may still get your record before RSD, just no guarantees at this point.

But to end on an up note, we got a listing in the Record of the Week listing over at Pirates Press!  Given the number of releases coming out for RSD, that's a big deal!  Check us out at http://piratespress.com/rotw/?p=1303

And you can still get your friends in on the action!  Send everyone you know to http://love.bubblesinthethinktank.com where they can buy the record, too!

As always, thank you so much for your support!  We couldn't do this without YOU!

Dot's latest single is not on the radio much.

It would be wrong for me to post the audio, but here are part of the lyrics.

My favorite record

I listened to my record that I borrowed from a friend,
I listened to it once and once again,
The first time that I heard it, my mind it did a flip,
And it's no surprise it confused my eyes,
That this record--that it could skip,
… skip … skip … skip ...

I haven't seen any reviews of Dot on tour. Neutral

But here's a forum comment from someone who just saw them perform. Very Happy [the "record" he refers to is the original '69 Shaggs record]

The Shaggs, or more so the Dot Wiggin group, actually sounded pretty interesting and enjoyable in person. I think all the stuff people say about the music kind of clicked with me while they performed live (saw them with NMH). So, definitely interesting record.

April 22, Dot reviewed in Massachusetts:

"The Dot Wiggin Band is the new project of Dorothy “Dot” Wiggin, whose old band, The Shaggs, recorded the cult classic album Philosophy of the World in 1969 and whom Frank Zappa allegedly called “better than the Beatles.” The Dot Wiggin Band immediately jumped into a punchy set that included such catchy songs as “Banana Bike” and “Speed Limit.” Their off-kilter rhythms and unique spin on a classic ’60s sound left the audience in a joyous frenzy."

"Dot Wiggin’s poetic lyricism captured the aura of delight that much of the night had in store. They blistered through their set, as Dorothy Wiggin added commentary on the songs. They concluded with a bluesy jam featuring fiery organ solos. At the end of their set, the audience begged for more. One Jake Marrus ’18 standing behind me screamed, 'We want Dot Wiggin!' "

The sisters have a little bit of trouble with the Moldavian-inflected intro to "Sweet Maria."
