Death or Justice

today Justice pipped Death to the post......
just feeling a bit silly cos of my momentous achievement.......
the play on words made me decide to post the story about the 91 year old (supposed) war criminal (American) deported, indicted, tried and found guilty in Germany...and then let loose on society whilst waiting for his appeal (I'm sure you're all aware that I take these kind of things quite seriously - and by 'quite' I mean 'very')
who do you think will win - Justice or Death - perhaps they are both the same.........in the end....and just in case you don't understand what I mean to say......it's 'a final reckoning'.......you all know the song..........

is there some kind of somnolence in death for the murdered jews?
some kind of sleep of ambrosia as they 'rest' in their mass graves?
why don't we kill a random person every week until we have accounted for every dead jew - now that's an idea I could really grow to like

well, there's another thing I learnt today......some awful bigot spouting hatred (in the form of deep concern for Palestinians)

no facetiousness in this post.....for a change (maybe a little bit)
she has no idea of the immensity of the endless suffering of the Jews......
there has been a pause where the Jews have got their wits about them and are fighting for their (in my mind legitimate) turf.......
attitudes like hers are a dime a dozen - in fact, her particular spouting of hatred can be heard the world over in a tide of recent amnesia, and sadly recurrent anti-semitism
I have talked to people and argued with them.......
the point they like to make is they're not anti-semitic......they are against the practices of the Israeli army and of Israel........lately
while that would be a nice distinction to make if it were true - they appear to me to be vociferously and rabidly anti-semitic...of a form that hides itself in the skirts of Palestine......
really, if I thought people had so much empathy for Palestine (which I don't)......I myself might even vouch for them
they might well have some justifications to promote their cause - but in depth I doubt that - I feel with all my body that it's another form of anti-semitism........because justice can't be realised in the alienation (read 'hatred') of jews as history has so sadly taught us
there has developed recently a loop-hole about prejudice which enables one to criticise, to the extent of hatred, Israel and not be anti-semitic
while logically, that might be right........I am feeling a groundswell of anti-semitism from every so-called liberal that I speak to and from many who can't even achieve the name 'liberal'......
I tend to get a bit ridiculous (passionate) about this.......so I ought to go to bed......

As far as I am concerned old age is no excuse for not bringing some one to trial justice denied is justice failed.

The guy was tried in Israel and found innocent. I'm sure if he was found innocent in this case some other country would give it their best shot. Concerning the Demjanjuk trial - of course it feels wrong if someone who has been found guilty walks free (for the moment). But it's common practice here in Germany to set convicted people free while their appeal is running if there is no real danger of them fleeing. Feels wrong somehow, of course, especially when it's such an old guy who now might die before he has to go to prison, but I think it's good to treat every criminal the same. (If we treated the poor souls seeking for asylum as well, that would really be great though. They are held in prison here pending trial for the crime of trying to get into our great country. Disgusting. Germany is still xenophobic to the bone, make no mistake.)
Anyway, the really good news about the Demjanjuk trial is that for the first time someone has been found guilty of accessory to murder for having been a concentration camp guard. The greatness of this is that it's the first time a German court has decided on the grounds of mere function; so far the principle was to rule everybody innocent who couldn't be convicted of at least one specific murder as a camp guard. Now, finally, it's enough to have been a camp guard - as it should have been all along.
But Demjanjuk has still one move left to gain the whole world's compassion - he must reveal his former illiteracy, talk about how he fled into the guard job only to prevent exposure of his shameful affliction, fucked a teenager only to have someone to read to him but eventually learned to read during his first stint in prison and was particularly moved by Chekhov's Lady with the Dog. Boy will we all pity him.
yeah - it is vile stuff and you're right - a lot of people are on that jews ruling america (and the world) bandwagon - even my ex who thinks he's so clever has dragged out that conspiracy theory and sought to drive it home to me (while he's driving me home in the car) and believes it - his justification is that many jewish commentators (like his favourite Noam Chomsky) are pro-Palestine - it is anti-semitism and he's not even aware of his own
I do understand the german thing about being free during your appeal and I think the same rules and laws should apply to everyone regardless of the crime (including the immigrants you speak of - we have the same stupid shit in Australia in the way we treat people trying to get in, but I think Europe is really becoming reactionary about their privileges)
I think it's a bit late in the day for the german justice system to have set a precedent about being an 'accessory' to murder - when like you said, most of them are dead now and it should have happened a lot earlier
I've come to agree with you about the reader unlike the last time we discussed it - and as you put it so well.......how I could ever have enjoyed that book and movie - I'm not sure

John Demjanjuk, I don't care that he is 91, or that the crimes date back nearly 70 years'. He ain't had a bad life has he, lived to a ripe old age as well. If he is found guilty he should be in prison for the rest of his life. Below are some of my family that died in Sobibor Death Camp:-
