They said "Oscar Peterson, you'll never play again."

They said, "Oscar Peterson, you've had more than a good run, you need to take it easy and consider your fragile state. Oscar Peterson, you are already Le Grand Plus Chevalier of the High Order of Quebec, what more is it that you want? Do you think that's realistic? And anyway, some people think you were more concerned with showing off like a fancy-pants than unearthing a singular, resplendent X-Factor bequeathed to only you by Our Milky Way Galaxy of Starlight."

They said, "Oscar Peterson, don't you think you've already given enuff concerts? Oscar Peterson, why don't you go back to French Canada and relax.  I'm sure there will be plenty of tribute shows about you, it's OK, really it is."

And Oscar Peterson said "No." ( "non")

And Oscar Peterson said, "My body is falling apart. The song of my spirit soars higher still."

And what would've been commendable optimism in the face of certain doom abruptly became a 1 in 9 quadrillion bolt from the cornflower blue beyond beyond ... A WONDROUS BECOMING ... flowing from a serendipitous "fender-bender" between the vehicle of Oscar Peterson and the Saab "mini-van" of Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and Big Ulf Wakenius ...

Ah, ha ha ha, but this synergistic combustion cannot be fathomed until we return to an earlier junction of Oscar's Boogie Ballad of Hallowed Legend.

-->1982 ... THE KOOL JAZZ FESTIVAL of Avery Fisher Hall

Oscar Peterson.  Herbert "The One" Hancock.

and both match the dizzying altitude of the African black-bellied bustard in bird-flight:

Then it ... oh ...pardon ... I almost forget ... 1988 ... location- The New World.  occasion?

a Duel in the Sun for all time.

But who won the duel?

We did.  We won the duel.  Each and every.

I heard Itzaak Perlman talking to Oscar Peterson, and when Peterson said "They said 'Oscar Peterson, you'll never play again.' " Perlman started mega LOLing, because he'd just been listening to the piano (which was playing).

Then Perlman tried to play some jazz with Peterson, and said afterwords "It's not easy to go off trying to play a lot of shtick, and still end up where you're supposed to end up."

That made me think that Perlman is not clear on the concept.

Perlman does his best, he does about as good as Menuhin:

There are those who say the Oscar Peterson "doesn't look Canadian," but that's racist.

There are also those who say his name doesn't sound like someone born in the West Indies, and that would be me saying that, because he has a Minnesota name.

Jessica Pare says anyone who thinks Canadians are so polite has obviously not been to French Canada, birthplace of Bill Shatner, who earned the boyhood nickname "Tuffy" for his skill in defending himslef against Attaquers. Yes, I may have mentioned this already, but some things mandate repeating, such as the "Hail Mary" etc.

I heard Oscar Peterson and Itzhak Perlman play on the radio, and Perlman did OK, considering, but he admitted he was just trying to "play a lot of schtick" and end up at the right place.

Then came the talking part, where Peterson said he popped a blood vessel back in 1993, and ...
Yakima Canutt wrote:They said "Oscar Peterson, you'll never play again."
This made Perlman laugh so hard that he fell out of his wheel chair.
