Climate marcher's feelings hurt because the Post ignored him. Sad

One more reason why they call it the WRONGINGTON POST.  bounce *

"As one of the more than 300,000 people who marched against climate change in New York City on Sept. 21, I was stunned to find no report in the next day’s Post on this unprecedented gathering. ..."

"How big does a march have to be, in The Post’s view, to warrant more than a paragraph? Does it take 1 million people to finally get an article about the remarkable explosion of U.S. grass-roots activism in recent years on global warming? Few causes of any kind have brought together so many people in the United States."

"Something big is happening in the United States. The tide of history is shifting against the fossil-fuel barons who have dominated our politics and our polluted atmosphere for years. Admirably, and unusually, The Post ran a five-part series of editorials in August calling for stepped-up national and international action on climate change. Sadly, when the biggest action to date — by far — finally happened, The Post gave it a few lonely sentences. Even the photos of the march that ran in the paper showed isolated individual demonstrators instead of a panning shot of Central Park West flooded with marchers from all 50 states."

*Lest there be any charges of copy-right infringement, the record will show that the pinhed includes an attribution to the WASHINGTON POST (even though the newspaper's writers did not compose a single word of the letter Rolling Eyes ).

Folks who follow the issue will get this--those who don't, not so much.

The conundrum is--why didn't the deniers try to "disrupt" the climate conference? (in other words, why didn't they ask any question?).

Obviously it must be some kind of fiendishly clever trick.

At San Jose State University, two climate science professors (also known as "PhDz") burn books written by climate-change skeptics.

He might be cherry picking those cold spots--I've heard tell there are still hot places in Australia. study

But he's right about the link between cold climate and drought:

Now the neo-conservative tea-party haters of the environment are calling yesterday "The day ‘climate change’ became irrelevant in politics – Powerful Green Lobby Defeated In US Midterm Elections."

So how is the climate about politics--I thought it was about SCIENCE. study

Back to reality--the Sierra Club says the downtrodden, the persecuted and the wronged will be the victors in the end. bounce

“Despite the climate movement’s significant investments and an unprecedented get-out-the-vote program, strong voices for climate action were defeated, and candidates paid for by corporate interests and bolstered by sinister voter suppression tactics won the day.
This election marked a pivotal change in how candidates confront the climate crisis, We’re not backing down.
Public support is solidly behind action to tackle the climate crisis. While we have lost friends in Congress, we are gaining them in the streets, as our movement grows stronger and broader”

Bad news for aging icebreakers. Neutral

They thought they had earned retirement, but the Wrongington Post reports that aging icebreakers will have to be impressed back into service, so that shipping will not come to a halt.

The unexpected resurgence of sea ice requires 75,000 horsepower engines and hulls strong enough to batter through six feet of ice at running speed, and the Polar Star is the only operational US vessel that's up to the task of delivering food, fuel and research material to our Antarctic research stations.

So, it's back to work for the old wrecks in decline (story of my life, btw Neutral ).

Globalpost (Sara Yasin) reports that a CHOCOLATE SHORTAGE is imminent:

" … the shortage isn’t just about the world going crazy for chocolate — it also has a lot to do with climate change. A decrease in cocoa supplies can be pinned on West Africa’s dry weather, which is only getting worse. In Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire — responsible for more than 70 percent of global cocoa supply — a study released by the International Center for Tropical Agriculture predicts a 2 degree Celsius (3.6 F) increase in temperatures by 2050. Higher temperatures mean that more water evaporates into the air from leaves and earth, leaving less behind for cocoa trees — a process called “evapotranspiration.”
