The bad news is that this will increase the cost of paper and high-fiber bread. Neutral

Since this is the real thread, I'll keep it real:

Oudin Åström reports that extreme heat is now killing the Swedes.

If only they'd seen it coming, they could have moved to Minnesota before the heat hit them. Neutral

The pinhed has fled Minnesota, racing against time to save his fingers and toes from frostbite and gangrene. affraid

But I can now report the latest on the scientific consensus. While huddled around the fire in an effort to keep our core body temperatures above the danger level, it came out that Wikman and Swenson are both climate skeptics.

I think that possibly the Viking community in general is starting to dislike ice and would welcome some warmth.

UPDATE: December, 2014 weather in Quinhagak, Alaska

The Quinhagak White Christmas video was made on a warm day -- December 5th (26 degrees). It then snowed on the 6th, 7th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 15th, 16th as temperatures dropped to 8 degrees. There was continuous snow on the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th, but thankfully the temperature rose to 33 for the holidays, and it didn't snow again until december 31st. Very Happy

Michael Mann used to be a scientist--but he has come to this: Neutral

"Climate Deniers Employ Predatory Tactics in Fight Against Facts: Michael Mann writes that the strategy 'is similar to what happens when a group of lions on the Serengeti seek out a vulnerable individual zebra at the edge of a herd.' "

"The 'Serengeti strategy' is often employed wherever there is a strong and widespread consensus among the world’s scientists about the underlying cold, hard facts of a field, whether the subject be evolution, ozone depletion, the environmental impacts of DDT, the health effects of smoking, or human-caused climate change," Mann writes.

Prof. Raghu Murtuguude, Ph.D, says the following:

“…  mice can sense the coming change. Before it’s too late, they run through the maze and find new cheese. The men, however, fail to notice the subtle collapse in the cheese supply until it’s nearly too late. Haw, the more proactive of the little men, realizes that the cheese has all but disappeared and sets out in the maze to find new cheese. He learns a number of lessons along the way and does manage to both find new cheese and enjoy it as much as the old. Hem, however, remains unconvinced that the cheese will disappear. He also concludes that even if the cheese were to disappear, he wouldn’t like the new cheese anyway."

"The moral of the story is that even creatures like mice — with their simple brains — are biologically tuned to notice and rapidly respond to change, whereas humans — the most evolved life form — are bogged down by their unique ability to rationalize and reason. Some members of the species even resort to wholesale denial that change is well underway, even when said change is caused by their own actions."

"The parallels to humans and climate change are rather obvious. Humans are constantly seeking more and more comforts, even at the cost of irreversibly damaging the planet."

"Less fortunate humans may, in fact, be more in tune with environmental changes and quicker to adapt, even when the changes result from over-consumption by the rich. Some humans are more sensitive to changes, even if they are late in responding to them. Others may resort to complete denial of the change itself or deny the need for action to avert change, especially when the thermostat is being discreetly adjusted.”

I am confident that I will be corrected if I remember wrong, but I think that what Spock actually said was:

"To hunt this species to extinction is not logical."

Yes, what is imaginary here is that phony Spock quote.  It is unvulcanian to call such wealth "imaginary." Because something is misbegotten does not make it fictitious.

Maybe the previously referenced image-maker mixed up two quotes and then ruined the internet

The Boston Globe says:

"The beaches of Cape Cod are taking on an Arctic look, even as the temperature warms."
"Months of bitter cold created huge sheets of ice that are now breaking up and washing ashore. In Wellfleet, there are chunks of ice reminiscent of those found in much harsher climates."

An ad came in the mail that says that I can by a formerly-bank-owned BEAUTIFUL COASTAL ESTATE for only $19,900.00. Very Happy

But I can see through their sneaky plan. Suspect

This is the kind of properly that will be here-today/gone-tomorrow because of RISING SEA LEVELS. Shocked

They thought that I could be tricked into buying it because I'm a climate-change denier. bounce
