You like football, Pinhedz? And you support Celtic? or dislike Spartak?

I didn't see that one or any other but I saw Puyol with a twisted arm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUpeuBTpGRg

But he's Puyol cheers

I was nearly crushed one time when the fans of team Spartak tried--and succeeded--in squeezing all at the same time onto one Moscow metro train. affraid

And they had won, so they were like

The rivalry between Spartak (Moscow Russia) vs Dinamo (Kiev Ukraine) somewhat parallels rivalry between the Rangers (strong protestant leanings) vs Celtic (with papist leanings).

So, if you are a Dinamo fan, you should also be a Celtic fan. Cool

I believe Blokhin is retired to coaching now. Neutral

As for Celtic, they like to sing this song at futbol games against the Rangers:

Low lie the fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly [Hey baby let the free birds fly!]
It's plain for us to see
Take your tents up to Drumcree
Because you'll not be marching down Garvaghy Road!
Razz

Some Rangers fans say that "Athenry" is a dispicable "rebel song." scratch

Rangers sing something much more benign, which they say is "not sectarian" scratch

We're up to our knees in fenian blood
Surrender or you'll die

I prefer a song that sticks to the game--like this other one that Celtic sings

Cheer up Alex Mcleish
Oh what can it mean to a

sad orange bastard and a

shit* football team

*shit--I'm not sure of the proper Scottish spelling. rabbit

Celtic have* been on an unstoppable roll ever since Subo cheered them on and told them to get out there and kick Russian butt.

*"have" instead of "has"--that's the pinhed speaking with a UK accent. geek

Getting a bit off track as usual, but these were the original words to this song:

But it got changed to this due to green-orange animosities over parade routes, and futbol rivalries:

It's 'Oleg'. That ^ isn't him though (looks like a modern-day Shakhtar Donetsk player). This is Blokhin, in his Soviet national team playing days:

Here he is today, Ukraine's national coach:

I believe you are right--the Shakhtar guy has too much overhanging brow.

precinct14 wrote:It's 'Oleg'.
It's actually Олег Блохін. The "г" in Олег is pronounced the same as the "х" Блохін--both sound like an "h."

In English, you'll see both transliterations, because Russians pronounce "г" like "g," while the Ukrainians pronounce it like an "h." So "Oleh" is phonetic, while "Oleg" is transliteral.

Rod will probably have to check into The Priory.

Subo was there, too (at the game, I mean), but she handled it OK.

Celtic just trampled Hiberbian 3-0.

It was a forgone conclusion, because Celtic never loses when Subo's in the stands. What a Face
