Advice for block party participation while Mrs. Pinz is in China

Post  pinhedz on Sun Sep 30, 2012 2:13 am

The block party is always right in front of pinz's house, because there's that big space where the circle opens up, so I can't very opt out, even though Mrs. pinz is in Beijing trying to cut some kind of World Peace deal.

So what should I bring? Something creative and healthy, like salmon kabobs with fresh peppers, tomatoes and onions, which are kind of laborious to assemble, and might need some kind of marinade that I don't know how to make?

Or should I go for the tried and true combination of fat, sugar and salt? I could just buy some lard, add salt and sugar, throw it on the grill to create those advanced glycemic end products that we all love. It would be a big hit, and nudge all the guests into the afterlife a little sooner.

Or should I just throw money at the problem and take it easy? At the fancy food stores you can get these pre-packages party platters with shrimp already shelled and deveined and cocktail sauce already provided in an elegant little cup in the center.

Any recommendations? (I might add that money is no object ).

aaaah block party. I thought it was a bloke(s) party

option 1 sounds good. But you are not showing much self-confidence to its elaboration
I'll go for option 3

good luck

bring beer

I would call mrs pinz but I don't have her number. World peace deals I'm sure they can wait a little more

I'm just back from the store with option 3 a done deal. Cool

I looked in the pantry--"ATLANTIC Bar Harbor real ale--a distinctive American Brown Ale."

There won't be any complaints about that, I reckon.

blokes

They'd dig a hole in the front hard, ignite 6 bags of charcoal and let it burn down to coals, put a whole pig in there on top of the coals, and bury it for a few hours.

I'd come out and join then with a bottle of Atlantic ale, and think about something else while they talk about the football scores.

I take it you are the 99%. I'm not sure about myself--I'm afraid to do the calculation. Neutral

that's a "no", right? Neutral

You need to wide your horizon
Imagine
The girls would dig a hole in the front hard, ignite 6 bags of charcoal and let it burn down to coals, put a whole pig in there on top of the coals, and bury it for a few hours.
Sounds any better? Suspect

I'm imagining it. That part sounds fine, but then what?

Do they then sit around talking about futbol for the next 5 hours?

...bring beer....
But don't drink any...you might end up doing something you regret and it's not like you'll be doing it to a friend or coworker that you can later avoid. It will be towards someone you might have to spend the rest of your life with.

Let me just say that the pinhed wishes to apologize if he offended anyone who likes to cook pigs in the ground (although this video has twice as many "dislikes" as "likes"):

It turned out that the majority of the partyers were between 1 and 13 years old.

I had no idea there was so much reproduction going on in this day and age. Shocked
Fortunately, there was plenty of beer.
