I'm fucking 20 and I've never even heard of more than half of those people. The two that I have heard are not good.

There are still good rock bands about.

^That is a great album. It's mostly instrumental, with a couple songs sung by Jack White and a couple by Nora Jones. You hear this on all the hipster radio stations.

Here's some random rock bands:

(more Jack White)

(<beware- heavy metal)

Those last two bands are really popular with the youngsters. I don't know if they're "chart toppers" though.

The Black Keys... some people told me I should listen to them... and I finally did (now)

I think Muse's Origin of Symmetry is a great album

I'm nearly 56, born 1955, which was actually a bit too young to catch the Beatles, the Stones, the Kinks etc in their prime. I had to catch up on the early years of these and other 1960's acts once I'd started to shave regularly.

The mid-1960's-mid-1970's were a golden age, I think.

I could have posted a lot of new music by older artists too, because there are plenty that are still putting out great records.

My biggest complaint about rock in the 60's is that great part of it doesn't take me anywhere.
In the 90's there was something boring that have remained in the 00's but it was not always present.

Hay, I like The Black Stripes and The White Keys as much as the next gondola dingus, but forget about surpassing best of rok-yore, does anybody other than a Webelos Scout think The White Strokes or The Black Jackets even come within a rural kilometer of matching the best roks of the 1960s and 1970s? No, no, no, and no. Crying or Very sad Heckles, we dont even have to go that far back in the canonparison - in the EarnestWeenie StadiumRok subgenre, a Cold-play cant even match the virtualosity of a U2, so we can observe that the Skool of Rok maybe just = diminishing returnz. Shocked

Jack White's Blunderbuss is one of the greatest albums ever.
