Note how the sculpter unobtrusively put as much metal as possible at the tail end, to counterbalance all of the mass that is up in the air.

That statue haunted and terrorized the protagonist in a poem by Pushkin, called "The Bonze Horseman."

And when the pinhed got stuck with the job of coming up with the artwork for packaging a CD, he naturally picked this:

Re: The Horse in Art
Hello Mr. Smith. All of those works were completed in the far distant past, starting with the bronze statue, which was commissioned by Catherine the Great, a German princess who had married into the Romanov line, and she thought the statue would help establish her legitimacy as a Russian monarch. It took from 1770 until 1882 to complete, and she had it inscribed with the phrase Petro Primo Catharina Secunda MDCCLXXXII in latin Петру перьвому Екатерина вторая, лѣта 1782 in Russian, both meaning "Catherine the Second to Peter the First, 1782."
The next picture is an illustration for an edition of Pushkin's poem "The Bronze Horesman." The poem was written in 1833, but the illustration is from a 20th century edition.
The last painting is by Russian painter Vasily Ivanovich Surikov, I don't know the exact date, but Surikov was active from the 1880s until 1911.
As for the CD, it was released in 2005: http://www.balalaika.org/cds.htm

neither. it''s a Nickelodeon Noveltee and a soon a doom boon to white slavers evrwhere. In time, D.W. Griffith would fly too close to tha sun and be incinerated, for the crime of profligate financing and Huguenot Champeening. Once he made a short filme called THE NEW YORK HAT, I think.
