^ Very nice!
Here's Fenton Robinson with his original 1967 version - http://www.we7.com/song/Fenton-Robinson/Somebody-Loan-Me-A-Dime?m=0
He wasn't just 'some old blues guy', so it's a shame that, apparently, Scaggs or his people didn't give him composer credit. But that doesn't detract from the quality of Scaggs's record.

Thanks felix. The link wouldn't work but I found a live version of Robinson's. It's excellent. I grew up listening to Boz Scaggs' version, and I still love it.

Mr Morganfield was notoriously dyslexic, and mildly numerically challenged - the song came out as:
Hence, no bar management/under-aged staff problem.
Nice one, Uncle Mud!
EDIT: By crikey! Muddy's mojo was still working overtime that late in life. Ta for the nudge googleward, pinz, loved that vid.

"Whiskey Headed Woman", recorded at Tommy McClennan's first session in 1939, and one of his most powerful songs. Another song he recorded at the first session was "Bottle Up And Go." One verse, about a card game between a black man and a white man, twice uses the word "nigger," an epithet that was common among Southern blacks but deeply resented by blacks in the North. According to Big Bill Broonzy, quoted in Yannick Bruynoghe's <sp?> biography 'Big Bill Blues' and in the liner notes to the RCA CD release, he warned McClennan that the song would get him into trouble ... McClennan replied "hell no, I'll never change my song." That evening Broonzy took Tommy to a party in Chicago and eventually the guests wanted to hear Bluebird's newest artist sing something. Broonzy had warned him not to sing the controversial song, but McClennan did anyway. When he finished the third verse, the offensive one, the other guests were so riled, Big Bill had to push McClennan out of a window to escape their wrath. Five blocks later, fortifying themselves in a bar, McClennan said he had to go back for his guitar. Broonzy told him not to bother as he still had part of it hanging around his neck.

They play in your orchard and steal your peaches

He did--to all the chicks in my neighborhood
So long--I'm tired of fattenin' frogs for snakes."
