ATU What happened ??

Firstly thanks SJ for setting this up.

I have been out all day and here is message I received on return:-

"The administrator : Stellar (Ip Address: 89.155.54.238) has chosen to delete the forum acrosstheuniverse.forumotion.com.

If he validates the deletion, the forum won't be available anymore.

The founder of the forum can restore it by going to this address :

http://www.forumotion.com/en/utils/"

Problem is I don't know the password it was originally set up with. If Stellar get's in touch I will try and find out, it seems such a pity that some of the great posts and hard work has gone.

I guess the forum contacted Stellar as administrator because of all the recent reported abuses.

There's an odd gloating troll-like fish named Booya in the pink place who advances a strange conspiracy theory, if anyone's remoted interested.

I'm so glad we're not pink any more, but I suppose we ought to be thankful that the Improbability Drive landed the shipwrecked survivors in another (defunct) parallel dimension- however disagreeably pink.

But it seems from Cath's correspondence with forumotion that that the mother-ship didn't sink as a result of reported "abuses"- from GD or anyone else.

Stella just deleted it- that's it. Under what circumstances, we might never know.

Ah, but ... as a conspiracy theorist of old, I have to wonder why, now, when - as we know - a former itinerant member has been exposed as having tried to get the forum shut down, Stellar has suddenly (without warning) decided to delete ATU? In my water, I feel that Gypsy's reporting of so-called 'abuses' to forumotion, which presumably will have been raised with Stellar by forumotion, is the root cause of Stellar's action. Anything else seems illogical and alien all across the universe. Innit.

Felix, you're not wrong. Stellar will have been notified of abuses and probably panicked. The abuses reported accused us of credit card scams, anti semitism and all sorts, so I imagine she would have wanted to have got out of that as quickly as possible.

i think it might be prevented a bit this time because we now have a founder who is active in the group and who seems to have a bit more time than Stellar to monitor the activities.
plus this time the password might be a bit more protected.
and it seems that Nash has a new interest in everything again

What has been said in pink never never land is all rubbish, problem was Stellar hadn't posted at ATU in ages and unfortunately had not passed the set up username and password on to the latter day mods.

By the way I have reported certain posts on pinky as abuse, so hopefully it will be shut down. Although, after 3 years' Lucy might get a shock

This catastrophe is turning out to be an unexpected opportunity.

First, we didn't realize how fragile the site was before--the ultimate power was in the hands of a non-participant (with very limited English language ability) who had probably forgotten about the site long ago.

Also, since most threads had all or most of the content on the first page, it's recoverable without to much difficulty--but this time we can cherry pick and leave all the chaff where it is.

Thirdly--on the strength of mostly cached material--the pinhed is once again the Number One poster.
