Re: Welcome Yusmam
google translation doesn't help here... panóptico
Wiki:
The Panopticon is a type of building designed by English philosopher and social theorist Jeremy Bentham in the late eighteenth century. The concept of the design is to allow an observer to observe (-opticon) all (pan-) inmates of an institution without them being able to tell whether or not they are being watched. The design comprises a circular structure with an "inspection house" at its centre, from which the managers or staff of the institution are able to watch the inmates, who are stationed around the perimeter. Bentham conceived the basic plan as being equally applicable to hospitals, schools, poorhouses, and madhouses, but he devoted most of his efforts to developing a design for a Panopticon prison, and it is his prison which is most widely understood by the term.

Re: Welcome Yusmam
...I think the idea is that something happens to a person when they know it's possible for them to be observed (even if in fact they never are...it's like the watcher is behind a mirror where he can observe...but the person watched can't see them He doesn't know if he's being watched or not. It tames people. It controls them more effectively than many other methods.

Re: Welcome Yusmam
I see my email or come here or do whatever and I have the feeling that someone is watching what I do... I can't get rid of that feeling
Once a friend he was in London and he was high. We talked to each other and I happened to sing "panic in the streets of London" and he asked me "how do you know it?"... he was paranoid that he had been being recorded in the streets there and was scared.

CCTV used to be used on the London Underground simply for evidential purposes in the event of an incident such as a assault; now it's routinely employed by Management to monitor staff performance. Paranoia is an entirely logical response.

My friend said that there were many cameras in the streets in London... that's where his paranoia came from
